The Downtown Job Jar is a unique opportunity for members of the DVBA to utilize the skills of tradespeople at no cost.  These individuals are clients of the Provincial Community Corrections Program who are providing community work.  The objective of the Downtown Job Jar is to assist property and business owners with enhancing or maintaining the appeal of any property within the boundaries of the DVBA.

If you have a project you've been thinking of tackling or some sprucing up to do, we want to hear from you!  To participate in the Downtown Job Jar Pilot Program, the following guidelines must be followed:

  • A downtown property or business owner (must be a member of the DVBA);
  • Work must be carried out in a business or property located within the boundaries of the DVBA;
  • The general scope of assistance available through the program includes painting, tiling, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work;
  • Property and business owners shall be eligible for up to one project every three (3) months, subject to the availability of the skills that you are seeking;
  • The Community Corrections Program and the DVBA will provide the skilled individuals with their tools and the Job Jar applicants will be responsible for the provision of materials associated with projects;
  • Owners shall ensure a safe working environment.  The skilled trades will be covered by Workman's Compensation, provided through the Provincial Community Corrections Program.
