Under our competency matrix, we also have a need for individual(s) with marketing and promotions skills.

We believe ideal board members must possess the following qualities:

  • Commitment and interest
  • Objectivity and independent-mindedness
  • Integrity and courage
  • Informed judgment and perspective
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

We are seeking individuals who also have well-developed behavioural and communication skills that will promote working together effectively, including:

  • Ability to present opinions
  • Willingness and ability to listen
  • Ability to ask questions
  • Flexibility
  • Conflict resolution
  • Dependability

Finally, the Board of Directors of the DVBA governs with emphasis on:

  • Outward vision, rather than internal preoccupation
  • Encouragement of diversity in viewpoints, when presented in a constructive manner
  • Strategic leadership more than operational detail
  • Participatory governance that focuses on collective, rather than individual decisions; clear distinction of Board and general manager roles; and
  • Fair and visible decision making.

What’s in it for you?  Opportunities to:

  • connect with like-minded individuals with a passion for downtown
  • learn and grow from shared experiences
  • give of your talents and abilities in a meaningful way
  • be a contributor to a thriving, dynamic and economically viable downtown

If this appeals to you, click here to download the application form and return it to the Chair of the Board no later than April 26, 2013, either by hard copy to the DVBA office or by e-mail to fran.hobbis@bcferries.com.
